IT WAS BETTER NEXT YEAR: TEN YEARS OF BURNING MAN (2025) is a photographic journey by Perry Julien capturing a decade of life on the playa through moments of connection, vulnerability, ritual and joy. Created not as an observer but as a participant, Perry’s images reflect the raw humanity, creativity, and spirit that define Burning Man. The book is organized through the seven chakras as a metaphor for personal and collective transformation—moving from grounding and passion to love, expression, vision and transcendence. More than a retrospective, IT WAS BETTER NEXT YEAR is an offering—a visual meditation on community, impermanence and the beauty of shared experience.

The 250-page book is available in a softcover edition for $80, as well a limited-edition hardcover version of 111 copies for $200, which includes an archival 8x10 fine-art print from the book. In the spirit of gifting and service that inspired this project, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to GoDharmic supporting its mission to feed people with dignity and compassion, and MAPS – Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, advancing research into psychedelic-assisted therapies for PTSD, depression and trauma. Through art and generosity, IT WAS BETTER NEXT YEAR is intended to extend the spirit of the playa far beyond the desert.
